He explicitly credited Mark Carney’s January performance at the World Economic Forum in Davos as the catalyst for his defection. According to Jeneroux, Carney’s globalist posturing on the world stage "opened his eyes" to a supposedly ambitious agenda. Apparently, the concerns of families in suburban Edmonton—struggling with the cost of living and a resource sector under constant siege—paled in comparison to the applause of the Davos jet set.
By rescinding his resignation to join the Liberal caucus, Jeneroux has effectively stolen a Conservative seat and gifted it to the very administration his constituents voted to oppose.
